ABOUT US

Valley Art Institute is a full curriculum art school. Our focus is primarily college preparatory although we serve those students who wish to pursue art for their own edification. Our curriculum addresses the individual needs of students as competition for spaces in art college continues to increase. Valley Art Institute has been extraordinarily successful in the past in preparing young students for art school admission; Our program of studies encourages self-motivation and disciplined study based on their interests and needs of our students both in and out of the studio environment.  Our program has resulted in a smoother and more successful transition when students move on to undergraduate or graduate level work.

In order for a student to be considered a College Preparatory Student they must submit samples of work and enroll for a minimum of 3 studio hours per week.  Additional assistance is give to college preparatory students in research of school, coordinating individual portfolios for art college submission, and assistance in submitting financial aid requests to colleges should the student decide to enroll in our College Preparatory Counseling Service.

College Preparatory Students in Junior or Senior years of high school or Junior College students who plan on transferring to an art department or art school may participate in our College Preparatory Counseling Service.
Ask for information regarding this program and its costs.  Students who participate in this program will receive a 10% tuition discount during the year that they enroll in the counseling program.
A minimum of 6 studio hours per week is strongly recommended for all students in the college preparatory program. It is also strongly recommended that students who have an art college objective should begin at the 10th grade high school level in order to best be prepared for portfolio compilation.

Non College Preparatory Art Studies

Valley Art Institute will accept those students who wish to pursue a serious study of fine art without an art college objective.  These students may participate in any of the classes offered although some pre-requisites may be necessary.

Our curriculum consists of both a technical and expressive understanding of a range of media focusing on drawing, painting, life drawing and sculpture.  All student work is critiqued and evaluated by both instructors and outside observers on a regular basis in order to ensure progress and the goal of completing a competent portfolio for art college admission.  Progress reports are periodically sent out so that parents are aware of the students’ development.

History of Valley Art Institute

Valley Art Institute was founded in January 1997 for the purpose of providing both young and old artists with an atmosphere of learning and creativity.

The Valley Art Institute philosophy is to provide an artistic atmosphere in which the student is schooled in the foundation principles of Fine Art. Our curriculum is designed for those students who wish to attend one of the major art colleges throughout the country as well as those students who may wish to pursue art for their own pleasure.

We realize there are limited resources available in both the local public and private schools in the area. The goal of VAI is to provide the finest preparatory art instruction as a necessary tool for advancement to the higher levels of art education and professional careers.

The instructors at VAI are all professionals in their respective fields and devoted to teaching and inspiring artists of all ages.

Valley Art Institute is a school of Fine Art.  For the purpose of college admission our students focus primarily on foundation work in the visual arts. It is our experience, working closely with the major art colleges around the country, that this focus is the most successful way of gaining admission to the students’ preferred college.
